Future Plans Celebrates Work-Based Learning Opportunities Through Move Up Ohio

As part of our MoveUp Ohio initiative—funded by the U.S. Department of Labor—Future Plans is proud to sponsor 10 work-based learning internships across the Great Lakes Corridor this summer. These internships are more than just short-term placements; they are powerful stepping stones for young people actively exploring and refining their career paths.

Real-World Experience, Real-World Impact

Through hands-on experiences in fields such as construction, excavating, drafting and engineering, social media and marketing, community relations, and youth programming, students are building valuable skills that go beyond the classroom. From learning how to read blueprints and use CAD software to managing digital marketing campaigns and engaging with community stakeholders, interns are gaining:

  • Professional communication and teamwork experience
  • Technical and trade-specific skills
  • Project management and organizational abilities
  • Confidence in workplace environments
  • Insight into their long-term career interests

These opportunities allow students to not only gain meaningful work experience, but also develop networks of professional contacts, which can be critical for their future success.
