On October 3rd, 2024, Move Up OH had the pleasure of attending the 10th annual THINK Manufacturing Career Showcase! The event was held at the Fremont Community Recreation Center and featured 12 local businesses and manufacturers. The event had seen roughly 850 9th-grade students from Bellevue, Clyde, Fremont Ross, Gibsonburg, Lakota, Margaretta, and St. Joe Catholic School.

This showcase’s goal is to introduce the rising freshman class to the skill sets and abilities necessary for the manufacturing and skilled trade fields. This daylong event offers hands-on instruction in teamwork, problem solving, continuous improvement, machining trades, mechanical/electrical trades, and robotics & automation.

The participating manufacturers included Autokiniton, Amcor, BMG, Crown Battery, First Choice Packaging, Green Bay Packaging, Martin Marietta Magnesia Specialties, Motion Controls Robotics Inc, Standard Technologies, Whirlpool, and Vanguard-Sentinel Career & Technology Centers (Manufacturing Technologies & Robotics division).

As a Community Outreach Partner, it was a unique opportunity to see the businesses in the area and network with them. I was able to have conversations about what capacity in which they would be able to interact with our clients as well as to get our name out in the community. Overall, this was an incredible event that allowed students to get a real in depth look into possible future careers
